I know we have 1000+ readers and commenters, but I've never seen a number for how many authors we have other than just "A Lot".

Last I heard there were about 2100 registered authors.

But I estimate only about 50 of them are regularly active.

That sounds about right, I know there are a lot of authors, but 95% of the posts I see on Oppo are from the same group of people. Every once in a while though, I see a name that I've never seen before, and will probably never see again.

About 50 post once a day, I'd say over 200 post once a week. The rest either comment occasionally, post once a month or longer, or just lurk. There's just such a wide spread of activity rates between members that it really doesn't seem like that many.

That'd be fucking insane. If I'm gone most of the day (like the past couple days, because I was on vacation) and can only check when I wake up and when I'm about to go to bed, there's almost too much stuff to look through. I generally like to see every post (I don't necessarily click on all of them, but I at least read the headline)

If there was 2100 people making posts every day, there's no way that'd be possible.
